About Presqu'île (1er/2e)

The Presqu'île is the peninsula between the Rhône and the Saône and the symbolic centre of Lyon, anchored by Place Bellecour (one of Europe's largest pedestrian squares), Place des Terreaux with its Bartholdi fountain, and the Opéra National de Lyon. Rue de la République forms a long pedestrian shopping spine, while the Musée des Beaux-Arts holds one of France's great art collections outside Paris. For residents it is the city at its most urbane: bouchons and brasseries (Rue Mercière, Brasserie Georges), luxury boutiques, and three converging metro lines at Bellecour. Apartments are predominantly grand pre-Haussmann and Haussmann stock, coveted, expensive and liquid, making it a patrimonial address rather than a high-yield play.
