Testaccio is Rome's most-celebrated working-class-turned-foodie neighbourhood — historically the city's slaughterhouse district where quinto quarto (offal) Roman cuisine developed, today a gentrifying central neighbourhood where traditional trattorias coexist with modern bistros, the MACRO contemporary art museum (housed in the former slaughterhouse), and an increasingly international resident base.
