About Varoš (Veli Varoš)

Veli Varoš grew as Split's fishermen's and farmers' quarter, and its steep cobbled lanes, tiny churches like Sv. Mikula and the Sustipan viewpoint over the sea give it a postcard intimacy, yet it sits a five-minute walk from the Riva. The housing is overwhelmingly small stone cottages and townhouses, many recently restored. Cars barely fit the lanes, but the trade-off is quiet, character and an immediate jumping-off point for Marjan's trails.
